Understand - Poem

Understand - Poem
Jensen "Jey" Bodholdt

He doesn't understand.
I'm not happy in my own skin.
He doesn't understand.
I hide my pain behind strange men.

He doesn't understand.
They don't want to be my friends anymore.
He doesn't understand.
I'm beaten down, fucked up, and poor.

He doesn't understand.
This bottle is my friend.
He doesn't understand.
I just want the pain to end.

He doesn't understand.
I've lost all reasons to live.
He doesn't understand.
I am too broken to love him.

He doesn't understand.
Why I'm always feeling down.
He doesn't understand.
Why I can't just stick around.

He doesn't understand.
He will never understand.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't understand.
Why wasn't she happy?
I don't understand.
Didn't she know she could trust me?

I don't understand.
I still care about her.
I don't understand.
What happened to forever?

I don't understand.
She wouldn't stop drinking.
I don't understand.
She wouldn't stop cutting.

I don't understand.
We can never be together.
I don't understand.
I know in my heart I still love her.

I don't understand.
I'm sitting here staring at her grave.
I don't understand.
Why couldn't she have been saved?

I don't understand.
I will never understand.

She Was In Love - Poem

By: Jey Bodholdt

She was in love, but who was I to stop it?
She said she had enough, but who was I to drop it?
I cry myself to sleep at night.
I look over to see if she's alright.
I should have known from her lonely eyes.
I should have known from her broken cries.
He can't do anything for her.
They will never be as good as we were.
How can she do this?
She broke my heart.
I now know why the pastor said,
till death do us part.
I wrote her name on my arm with broken glass.
I tied the knot.
Closed my eyes.
And lived my last.

I'll Miss You - Poem by Jey Bodholdt

You used to make my day feel so bright,
But now that you're gone, nothing feels right.

I tried so hard to replace you,
Because what else could I do?

I've looked and looked for reasons why,
but nothing explains why you would leave my life.

I know it's my fault, the reason you're gone,
And I know in my heart I need to move on.

Just know that every time I looked at you, my spirits grew higher,
I'll miss you so much, my beloved, yellow lighter.

L - Poem by Jey Bodholdt

He had a hard life. No-good parents.
In and out of foster homes.
In the bad crowd.

At a young age,
he learned that he could only trust himself.
He lost a lot.

Now he's struggling.
Trying to put his life together,
but nothing's going the way he wants.

His only friend is the half-empty bottle in his hand.
He's a broken soul.
But he is beautiful.

He hates when people are treated wrong,
because he knows.

He understands what it's like.

On the outside, you know that he's been through it.
His demeanor says it all.

But when you take a look at the lyrics written in his heart and soul,
you find the pure beauty of who he is,
and you wonder, how to put him into a song.

You never know if it'll be the last I love you - Poem by Jey Bodholdt

You never know if it'll be the last I love you.
So go out and love who you want to.
It's simple, give into impulse.
You don't need a sign, stop looking for symbols.

Your time is now,
You've just got to live, and anyhow,
Life is way too short,
So live, laugh, love with your whole heart.

Forget what other people say,
Let them live their life their own way.
Make that move, take a chance,
It's all in the palm of your hands.

Don't give in to the worlds adaption,
be your own you, your own creation.
Stand up, be tall,
Someday you'll have it all.

Just keep growing
and showing
and proving them wrong,
you too can be strong.

The End - Poem by Jey Bodholdt

Can we talk about death for a moment?
A controversial subject, hard to discuss.
Few people stop to actually think about it.
But what's actually waiting for us?

Some people like what they've been told,
and spend their days trying to repent.
But what actually lies beyond our world?
What is really at the end?

What if death is dark?
What will we behold?
How will we know until we embark?
What if death is cold?

What if death is full of light?
I've heard something about gates of gold.
Will death bring Heaven cloaked in white?
Something like the stories that've been told.

But what if Heaven is not real?
How will we ever know?
The way to find out isn't ideal.
But eventually, we'll all go.

Death gives a mysterious impression.
Nothing more terrifies me.
Haunted by the lingering question,
What will actually be?

Perception - Poem by Jey Bodholdt

For the colors I see,
For the sounds I perceive,
Do you hear the same sounds?
Do you see the same as me?

For when I see green,
What do you see?
Do you see the same color?
Do we see the same green?

You may see leaves,
On warm summer trees,
For it may just be a color,
Can it even be seen?

When you hear bees,
Is it what you believe?
Does it sound like a buzz?
Do we hear the same thing?

Is it possible to see
the way you hear bees?
Is it possible to hear,
the way you see green?

For the colors I see,
For the sounds I perceive,
Do you hear the same sounds?
Do you see the same as me?
